Telos Partners with Ponos Technology to Develop Hardware-Accelerated Ethereum L2 zkEVM Network

Telos Foundation Partners with Ponos Technology for Ethereum Layer 2 Enhancement

The Telos Foundation has officially revealed its collaboration with Ponos Technology, a frontrunner in Zero Knowledge Proof (ZKP) research and development. This partnership aims to create an optimized, hardware-accelerated Ethereum Layer 2 network, incorporating SNARKtor, a decentralized recursive proof aggregator developed by Telos. By adopting a hardware-software co-design strategy, the initiative is set to enhance scalability, improve data security, and facilitate trustless interoperability for Ethereum users worldwide.

Ponos Technology’s Expertise in Zero Knowledge Proving

Ponos Technology specializes in comprehensive solutions for ZK proving, primarily utilizing FPGA acceleration to optimize performance and reduce costs. This approach aligns hardware and software components, creating dedicated execution environments that maximize business value. The team at Ponos consists of seasoned scientists and industry professionals with extensive expertise in various facets of ZKPs, ensuring a robust foundation for the project.

Advancements in Zero Knowledge Technology

Slobodan Lukovic, CEO and co-founder of Ponos Technology, emphasized the growing significance of Zero Knowledge technology, predicting its mainstream adoption across numerous sectors. He drew parallels with artificial intelligence, highlighting how improvements in algorithms and hardware infrastructure will facilitate the widespread use of ZKPs in the near future.

Collaboration with Notable Partners

Telos is also set to collaborate with several prominent partners throughout the development process. These include Digital M.O.B., a top Ethereum development team known for contributions to projects such as MetaMask and MakerDAO; ATKA, a Paris-based Web3 incubator that has successfully supported projects like Morpho and Mangrove; and Cometh, a distinguished development team led by ETH France President Jerome de Tychey, who has recently joined Telos as a technical advisor.

Leadership and Coordination Efforts

John Lilic, Executive Director of Telos, will oversee the coordination of this transformative initiative, drawing on his extensive experience from his tenure at Consensys and Polygon, as well as his status as a prominent Web3 angel investor. He will collaborate closely with Alberto Garoffolo, Head of ZK technology at Telos and co-author of the SNARKtor whitepaper, along with Jesse Schulman, CTO and Head of Engineering at Telos. Lilic remarked on the necessity of a hardware-software co-design approach to achieve significant performance scale for zkEVM.

Telos Foundation’s Commitment to Blockchain Development

Founded in 2018 without an initial coin offering (ICO) or token sale, Telos has focused on developing two primary networks: Telos EVM and Telos Zero. The Foundation is now turning its attention to creating a highly efficient and provably succinct L2 zkEVM. Further updates regarding the Telos L2 will be shared ahead of EthCC in July, where Telos will play a key sponsorship role. The team is set to present a live demonstration of SNARKtor during the event as a precursor to the official launch of the Telos L2.

Overview of Telos

Telos represents a decentralized blockchain ecosystem that comprises Telos EVM, recognized for its speed as the fastest Ethereum Virtual Machine globally, and its efficient consensus layer, Telos Zero. The project is dedicated to expanding its capabilities through innovative Zero Knowledge technology by developing a hardware-accelerated Ethereum Layer 2 network, powered by SNARKtor, which aims to improve privacy and scalability for diverse global applications. The Telos Foundation, which manages this initiative, is an ownerless entity committed to fostering the growth of the Telos blockchain network and its community.
